Basketball hoop installation changes significantly depending on whether the product is portable, wall-mounted or designed for an in-ground foundation. A Goaliath-style in-ground system, a 72-inch hoop and a portable adjustable model should not be treated as the same job. We begin with the exact hoop and the installation type.
In-ground, portable and mounted hoops
Send the manufacturer/model and explain how the hoop is intended to be supported. Portable systems may primarily require assembly and base setup, while in-ground units can depend on a prepared footing or foundation that must be addressed before the pole is installed.
If the product mounts to a wall or another structure, provide photos of that location. The supporting surface and manufacturer instructions determine whether the site is appropriate.
Court area and clear space
Choose the final playing area before assembly. Driveways, curbs, slopes, overhead lines and nearby structures can affect placement. A hoop should not be installed based only on where the box happens to be delivered.
The page does not make a blanket claim that a location meets every safety or code requirement. Site-specific conditions need to be reviewed for the actual product and property.
Parts, anchoring and site preparation
Keep the pole sections, backboard, rim, hardware and adjustment components together. Missing hardware can stop the installation even when most of the system is present.
Concrete work, excavation, removal of an old pole or other site preparation is not silently included. If an in-ground model needs a new footing, tell us so that work can be scoped separately.
Basketball hoops belong to outdoor play equipment installation. A climbing structure is better handled under monkey bars installation, while a complete backyard play system belongs under swing set and playset installation.

Basketball Hoop Assembly and Installation FAQ
Which hoop details matter most before scheduling?
Provide the manufacturer/model and say whether the system is portable, wall-mounted or in-ground. The support method changes the site requirements.
Is concrete footing work automatically included for an in-ground hoop?
No. Foundation or excavation work is a separate scope unless it has been specifically reviewed and included.
Can an old basketball pole be removed first?
Removal can be requested, but it should be identified separately so the new installation is not quoted as if the site were empty.
Do you assemble portable hoops?
Portable systems can be included when all components are present and the final setup area is suitable for that model.
What site photos are useful?
Show the proposed hoop position, surrounding driveway or court area, nearby structures and any existing pole or footing.
